Infant Programs

The Infant Room at The Little Caboose is a structured and nurturing environment where Mom and Dad will provide our Infant Room teachers with a schedule for the children that we will follow exclusively until their first birthday. This age group has a curriculum from High Scope. Their days are filled with hands on, exploratory learning that promotes self confidence and group learning.

The teachers in this classroom understand the importance of promoting education to enhance the mind, but also the physical body. We reinforce this through our menu selections, and our sanitation standards. Our babies are healthy, happy, and confident, as well as brilliant by the time they move on with their older friends.

Toddler Programs

We reinforce group learning to this age. Shapes, Colors, Numbers, English, and Spanish are all introduced during their time in this class. Art and Sensory are a large part of a toddler’s development. We promote major milestones such as self-feeding, talking, and walking to this group.

We begin to teach our toddlers how to interact with their friends and communicate their wants and needs to their teachers through increasing their vocabulary. As we introduce our group learning, the children will follow a class schedule, including mealtimes and nap times.

Preschool & PreK Programs

Our Preschool & Pre-K classes prepare our children to join the “real world”. Much like their next school, these classes focus on Math, Science, English, Reading, and Social Studies – all the while still promoting fun and learning through dramatic play & art time. Our goal is for our students to be fully prepared to embark on their next journey. We will work on independent skills such as toileting and personal hygiene. Our preschool & PreK classes will enjoy enrichment activities throughout the year that reinforce our curriculum themes and learning objectives.

School Age Before & After Care Programs

We offer programs for our school age children. We service Thurgood Marshall Elementary School, and Newark Charter School. Transportation is provided by the schools to and from The Little Caboose. We will provide snacks, homework guidance, and a nurturing environment for our school age children. On days when school is closed, children will be able to attend The Little Caboose for the full-day.

Nutritious Meals Included

The Little Caboose prides itself on our meal program and our menu offerings. Our menus and meals are designed and prepared to offer children a variety of high-quality food options. We make as much of our foods as possible from homemade recipes and we never vend out our meals. Formula is included with our tuition and once infants start eating solid foods, we create individual menus to parent specifications.

Digital Communication

The Little Caboose partners with Tadpoles, Inc. to offer digital communication to our families. This is a mobile app that allows us to send daily updates and reports on your child. We will upload photos and/or videos of your child enjoying their activities. These updates will be sent throughout the day so that you feel connected and informed of your child’s day.
